Greenpeace, the world's leading environmental organisation with over 3 million members and a presence in 41 countries, is offering the opportunity of becoming the Senior Accounts Clerk at Greenpeace International, the global coordinating office based in Amsterdam, The Netherlands. Reporting to the Financial Controller (please check our website for more information on that recruitment), we are seeking an individual who works well within a team, has a strong eye for detail and is focused on delivering their responsibilities in as efficient a manner as possible.
Those responsibilities include: Accounts payable processing and reconciliation; Bank transaction processing and reconciliation; and Reconciliation and administration of inter-group accounts. The candidate will be able to demonstrate the appropriate level of technical experience in the areas of responsibility detailed and will have the ability to manage a demanding, variable workload. It is key that the that the candidate is fluent in written and spoken English and Dutch and in the use of Excel. It is desirable if the individual has experience in the use of SUN.
The purpose of the Senior Accounts Clerk is:
To assist the Financial Controller in ensuring the tight financial control of Greenpeace International (GPI) 's Balance Sheet. To assist the Financial Controller in ensuring the tight financial control of GPI’s Accounts with respect to Inter-Office accounting. And to help ensure that the International Campaign reporting of National and Regional Offices (NRO's) are informative, effective and efficient.
The skills/ requirements for this position are:
- Bookkeeping qualification
- Minimum of 3 years bookkeeping experience in similar work environment
- Minimum 2 years Purchase ledger experience
- Minimum 2 years banking experience (must include payments, bank reconciliations, foreign currency transactions)
- Advanced computer skills (intermed to advanced excel use)
- Proficient user of accounting packages
- Clear communication skills
- Proficiency in English and Dutch languages
- Strong awareness of confidentially matters
